The future of KV Mechelen goalkeeper Ortwin De Wolf is uncertain. He received fewer playing minutes this season and also seems to have no guarantees for next season at KV Mechelen. De Wolf has kept quiet about his situation so far. The 28-year-old goalkeeper had to accept a role as second goalkeeper behind Nacho Miras for most of the season. In the final stretch of the season, he did get some minutes. However, it seems that his situation will not change anytime soon. In an interview with Gazet van Antwerpen, De Wolf made it clear that a transfer this summer is not ruled out. “The future will show whether I will still play here next season, but for now, I will not say too much about it”, said the goalkeeper. “I want to focus on the remaining matches.” Coach Frederik Vanderbiest also could not provide much clarity about next season. “I cannot promise him that he will play”, said the coach openly. Although Vanderbiest emphasized that he has confidence in De Wolf, he also admitted that Nacho Miras currently has a slight advantage. As a result, the competition under the bar this summer will be fully open again. De Wolf is still under contract with KV Mechelen for one more season, but a transfer seems to be a realistic scenario if he wants to get more playing time again. In episode 42 of the second season of Tijd voor Voetbal, the new champion Club Brugge, the riots in the Waalse derby, and the promotion of Lommel are discussed. That and much more in Tijd voor Voetbal.
