KV Mechelen features in the official match highlights package for the Jupiler Pro League's 2026-2027 season. The Pro League released a summary of matchday 5 action, which includes footage from KV Mechelen's encounter with KVC Westerlo. These highlights, distributed by the league body itself, provide a comprehensive look at the week's events in Belgium's top flight.
The context for Mechelen, however, is a difficult start to the campaign. As of 9 September 2026, the club sits 15th in the standings with just two points from five matches. They are yet to win a game, having drawn twice and lost three times, with a recent form line of loss-draw-loss-loss-draw. Having scored five goals and conceded thirteen, their goal difference stands at minus eight.
The released matchday 5 summaries do not solely focus on KV Mechelen versus KVC Westerlo. The package also covers the fixtures between Sporting Charleroi and Union SG, Standard de Liège and Antwerp, and STVV against RAAL. Titled 'TOUS LES BUTS' (All Goals), the overview offers a complete replay of every goal and key moment from that round. For KV Mechelen supporters, it's a chance to rewatch their team's action and also scout the competition.
The backdrop to these highlights is challenging for the Malinwa. The club is currently in the lower reaches of the table and trails league leaders KAA Gent by a significant margin of thirteen points. This gap highlights the early-season hurdles the squad faces. Also, the coaching staff is dealing with injury absences, as both Leo Fuhr Hjelde and Tijn Van Ingelgom are currently sidelined. The full squad status is available for review.
All focus now shifts to the next opportunity for points. KV Mechelen will host RSC Anderlecht at home on 11 September 2026. Anderlecht currently occupies 11th place, presenting a potential opportunity for Mechelen to secure their first victory of the season. This home fixture is a key moment to change momentum. Preparations are underway for this clash, and fans can view the complete fixtures schedule.
The official league highlights serve as important archival footage, but for KV Mechelen, the pressing reality is the need for on-field results. The match against Anderlecht on 11 September provides that immediate chance.
