KV Mechelen has strengthened its squad with the signing of Bouke Boersma. The 20-year-old striker, who began his career at De Graafschap, will soon sign a 3.5-year contract with the Belgian club. KV Mechelen is paying 1.1 million euros for the forward, a sum that could increase with bonuses. Boersma had previously reached a personal agreement with KV Mechelen, but the clubs still needed to come to terms. In addition to KV Mechelen, Go Ahead Eagles and Italian club Avellino were also interested in the young striker. De Graafschap, where Boersma moved last year from Vitesse, did not let him go easily due to his ongoing contract. At De Graafschap, Boersma developed into a regular starter and signed his first professional contract. The Superboeren also secured a sell-on percentage, making the deal even more interesting for the club from Doetinchem.
