Coach Vanderbiest has expressed his desire to keep winger Myron Van Brederode at KV Mechelen. The manager stressed the player's importance to the squad and the club.
KV Mechelen, the Maneblussers from the Jupiler Pro League, currently sit fifteenth in the table with just two points from five matches. The team has scored five goals and conceded thirteen, a goal difference of minus eight. They trail leaders Gent by thirteen points. The next challenge is a home match against RSC Anderlecht on September 11th.
Myron Van Brederode is a taste-maker and a key player for the Maneblussers. Vanderbiest indicated that the player is very important for the group, including his overall presence. "That's right, you shouldn't hide that. Myron is very important for the group, also for his aura." the coach said. Since joining KV Mechelen, Van Brederode has missed a maximum of two training sessions, underlining his professionalism.
The winger remained at the club this summer, despite rumours of interest from other teams. Vanderbiest expressed satisfaction that Van Brederode stayed and hopes for continuity. The full squad and their statistics can be found on our squad page.
The coach hopes Van Brederode will stay at KV Mechelen for another full season. He voiced concern about the winter transfer window. "Hopefully for another full season. Winter transfers are always bizarre and also usually somewhat forced," Vanderbiest noted. He described winter moves as often forced and unpredictable.
The focus now is on improving results. The team is struggling with a difficult start to the season and a recent form of loss, draw, loss, loss, loss. The coming weeks are important to pick up points. The complete league table can be followed on our standings page.
Alongside the desire to keep Van Brederode, KV Mechelen is also dealing with absences. Leo Fuhr Hjelde and Tijn Van Ingelgom are currently sidelined due to injuries. The current injury status is always up-to-date on our injuries page. These absences only increase the role of fit and influential players like Van Brederode.
The club must deliver performances in the coming weeks, starting with the match against Anderlecht. An overview of all upcoming matches is in our fixtures. Vanderbiest and his staff are working on a climb up the table, aiming to build on the core of the team. The home match against Anderlecht, who are eleventh, takes place on September 11, 2026.
