KV Mechelen fans have been waiting for a while, but the new home shirt is finally here. And on it, there's once again a broad yellow stripe on the chest. It's also a nod to the past. The 1945-1946 season meant not only a sporting revival after the war, but also an absolute glory period for FC Malinois. That season grew into one of the most sensational championships in Belgian football history. It was an exceptionally successful year for the Mechelen club. The team scored 35 out of 36 matches, and scored in every home game. In 1946, a real people's festival took place in Mechelen. Two league titles were celebrated. Bertrand from the Malinwa archive: “The first league title in 1942-1943 was not allowed to be celebrated in the city center by the German occupiers. In 1946, after the liberation and the second league title, it was double the fun. A real festive procession then marched through the streets of Mechelen.” The first 200 pieces of the new home shirt are available today in the fanshop. A pre-order can be placed via the webshop. KV Mechelen is currently 21 points behind leader Union St. Gilloise. The team has scored 39 goals and conceded 37. The next match is on February 13, 2027 against Anderlecht.
