Fred Vanderbiest remains head coach of KV Mechelen. Despite a poor start to the season with just two points from six matches, the manager has not considered stepping down.

KV Mechelen currently sit 16th in the Jupiler Pro League. The team is on a difficult run with one win, two draws and two defeats in their last five outings. Following a weak performance against Westerlo that was met with loud whistles from supporters, team cohesion has become a topic of discussion.

Vanderbiest does not believe major changes are needed. He advocates for a return to basics with more realism, compactness and effort. "You may lose, but not in such a way," the coach said. He wants to see a reaction from his players in the upcoming fixture against Club Brugge, who visit the AFAS-stadion on 21 November. The visitors currently sit third in the standings.

The coach feels no pressure from the club's board regarding his position. "In the communication we have, I feel no pressure," Vanderbiest explained. He trusts the internal conversations completely and expects the narrative to change quickly. "If we win soon, you will write something completely different again," he added.

Focus is now entirely on preparing for Club Brugge. The full squad list and fixtures schedule are available on the club website. With players like Keano Vanrafelghem, Leo Fuhr Hjelde and Tijn Van Ingelgom currently sidelined, the coming period demands adaptability.
